Vienna Women's 1b: Contact & Information

About the Vienna Women’s Football Section

First Vienna FC 1894, Austria’s oldest football club, was the first Bundesliga club to establish a women’s team in 1989. At the time, the entire squad of the club "KSV der Wiener Berufsschulen", which had existed for 10 years, was taken over, along with their coach Dipl.-Päd. Christine Hainzl. In 1997, the women’s team from Döbling was dissolved and registered under the club "FC Hellas Kagran".

In autumn 2011, First Vienna FC 1894 re-established a girls’ section under the leadership of Christine Hainzl, starting with two teams (U15 and U11). During the 2011/12 season, both teams played numerous successful friendly matches. In autumn 2012, a newly formed women's team made up of U15 players and several new additions entered the Vienna 1st Division A (the fourth-highest tier in Austrian women's football) and won the championship in the 2012/13 season, earning promotion to the Vienna Women’s League.

In the 2017/18 season, the women’s first team became champions of the Vienna League and secured promotion to the 2nd Division East/South after two victories against Lower Austrian champions Langenrohr (3:1 and 3:0). That same season, they also won the Vienna Women’s Cup. In the 2018/19 season, our women’s team—newly promoted—achieved an impressive 4th place out of 12 teams.

Starting with the 2019/20 season, all Bundesliga teams were required to maintain a B team in the newly created Future League, resulting in a single nationwide 2nd Division without East/West separation. Our women’s team has competed in this league with a clear goal: promotion to the 1st Bundesliga.

The 2019/20 season had to be paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the team finishing as autumn champions. However, in the 2020/21 season, the long-awaited promotion to the 1st Bundesliga was finally achieved.

Since the 2021/22 season, following the promotion of the first team, Vienna’s 1b women’s team has been competing in the Future League. This young squad consistently finishes in the upper half of the table. With an average age of just under 18, the team clearly demonstrates the club’s commitment to developing young talent.

In addition to the Future League team, Vienna also operates four youth teams (U10, U12, U14, and U16), all designed to provide young players with a solid foundation for development.
