It is the year 1894. In the first general assembly of the First Vienna Football Club, Georg Fuchs was elected chairman, William Beale became his deputy and Franz Joli captain. Beale, a young Englishman, gardener and football pioneer, was also responsible for the club’s logo. The logo of the oldest football club in Austria shows a blue-yellow football framed by three legs. Beale was inspired by the coat of arms of his homeland. Beale comes from the Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man is an island in the Irish Sea between Great Britan and Ireland. It is a self-governing British Crown dependency. Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state. She holds the title Lord of Mann. The United Kindgdom has responsibility for the island's military defence. 125 years after the birth of our logo we started looking for the origin of the bouncing ball in the characteristic triskele. We therefore spoke to Frank Stennett, CEO of the Isle of Man Football Association - another historic moment for our club. -> Video
