First Vienna FC Amateurs Host Red Star Penzing at the Campus
In Round 18 of the Wiener Stadtliga, First Vienna FC Amateurs will face Red Star Penzing on Saturday at 14:00 at the Vienna Campus. Admission is free for all spectators.
After two dominant victories against SV Wienerberg 1921 and SV Gerasdorf-Stammersdorf, the Vienna Amateurs have taken the top spot in the Wiener Stadtliga with 34 points. The league remains incredibly tight, with the Vienna youngsters level on points with SV Donau, keeping the title race wide open. In the upcoming clash against Red Star Penzing, the focus will be on defending the top position and securing another three crucial points.
“A strong start is obviously key. Our game against Wienerberg was excellent, while the match against Gerasdorf had to be adjusted due to poor pitch conditions, which made it less enjoyable for the spectators. Nevertheless, thanks to our determination and fighting spirit, we managed to win the game,” said head coach Gökce.
Red Star Penzing on a Winning Streak
Red Star Penzing have also been in strong form, winning their last two matches. With 11 points, Klemens Messner’s team currently sits in third place, just one point behind the Vienna Amateurs.
Head coach Tuna remains cautious about the upcoming fixture: “We don’t pay too much attention to the league table because it only creates unnecessary pressure. We approach every match with the goal of performing at our best, regardless of the standings. In the end, we’ll see where we finish. As for our opponents, I believe Red Star Penzing is one of the toughest teams to face. But on our home turf, we are also very strong. It’s going to be an exciting match.”
