In the 17th round of the ADMIRAL Frauen Bundesliga, the Vienna women hosted SPG FC Lustenau / Dornbirn. The home side set the course for victory early, taking a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime. After the break, the blue-and-yellow controlled the game and sealed the deal with two more goals for a well-deserved 5-0 triumph.
Despite several players missing due to illness, Vienna started the match with great energy against their opponents from Vorarlberg. Falk returned to the starting lineup after a long absence, while Kovar was back in action following an illness.
Vienna Dominates from the Start
From the opening whistle, Vienna took control and put the visitors under immediate pressure. The first big chance came in the 4th minute when Rukavina fired a powerful free kick towards the near post, but Dornbirn’s goalkeeper Steenhuis reacted brilliantly and pushed it away for a corner.
The hosts kept pushing and were rewarded in the 11th minute. A cleverly executed free kick once again found Rukavina, who wasted no time and struck a well-placed shot into the net to give Vienna a deserved 1-0 lead.
Schlime Saves a Penalty – Vienna Stays in Command
Dornbirn had their first real opportunity in the 30th minute when a corner led to a handball by Hahn inside the box. The referee pointed straight to the spot. Walter stepped up to take the penalty, but Vienna keeper Schlime showed nerves of steel, guessed the right way, and made a crucial save to deny the equalizer.
Just minutes later, the visitors made a costly mistake. A long ball took an unfortunate deflection and landed perfectly in the path of Natter. The striker stayed cool under pressure, won her one-on-one duel, and slotted home for 2-0—her first Bundesliga goal for Vienna.
Falk Extends the Lead – Comfortable Halftime Advantage
Before the break, Vienna struck again. In the 42nd minute, Fankhauser played a brilliant through ball into the space, finding Falk in stride. She controlled the ball expertly and nutmegged the goalkeeper for a clinical finish—3-0!
Just before halftime, Seidl had a chance to further extend the lead, but her sharp-angled shot was well saved by Steenhuis.
With a commanding 3-0 lead, Vienna headed into the locker room, having delivered an impressive first-half performance.
Substitutions and Controlled Second Half
At the start of the second half, Vienna made their first substitution, with Amuchie replacing Hahn.
The game initially lost some of its intensity, as the visitors tightened up their defense. Vienna’s first notable attacking move of the second half came in the 57th minute when Amuchie delivered a perfectly weighted cross into the box. Natter got her head to it but directed the ball too centrally, making for an easy save for Dornbirn’s keeper.
Gebert Scores from Distance
In the 62nd minute, head coach Tuna made further changes, bringing on Höcherl and Tuschek for Rukavina and Falk.
Just five minutes later, Vienna produced a real moment of magic. German midfielder Gebert took a shot from distance, catching Dornbirn’s goalkeeper off guard with a powerful strike that soared into the net—4-0 Vienna!
Natter Bags a Brace
Vienna remained in full control without needing to push the tempo. The game shifted more into the midfield, with Dornbirn trying to find a way through but failing against Vienna’s well-organized backline.
In the 72nd minute, Németh replaced Wucher.
Despite the comfortable lead, Vienna stayed hungry for goals. In the 82nd minute, Amuchie pressed Dornbirn’s defense, forcing an error that sent the ball straight to Natter. The forward pounced, drove into the box, and finished clinically for her second goal of the match—5-0 Vienna!
Bundesliga Debut for Milla Puck
A special moment came just before the final whistle when 16-year-old Milla Puck was subbed on for Natter, making her Bundesliga debut. She immediately showed confidence, delivering a well-timed pass to Fankhauser, whose shot, however, did not pose much of a threat.
In the end, Vienna cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory, showcasing a strong performance and leaving no doubts against SPG FC Dornbirn / Lustenau.
