Top Match for Vienna Amateure in Donaustadt
This Friday, the Vienna Amateure face the top game of Round 19 in the Wiener Stadtliga against second-place SV Donau. With a win, Gökce Tuna's team could extend their lead to five points.
After three wins from three games in 2025, the Vienna Amateure aim for another three points this Friday against SV Donau, who are just two points behind. The victory in the last top game against Red Star Penzing, including a stunning goal, is likely to have given the young team an extra boost.
Head coach Tuna is hoping for a perfect start to the spring season with four wins: "Just like last fall, we've had a great start, but unlike back then, we want to maintain consistency. We want to do even better this time, and that's exactly what we're training for."
SV Donau also unbeaten
SV Donau is currently the biggest contender for the Döbling side. Felix Pannosch's team, like the Vienna Amateure, has not lost a game in the second half of the season, although they were held to a 0-0 draw by FC 1980 Wien in their latest match.
Asked about the current biggest rival for the title, Tuna said: "We train regardless of the opponent, just like the last three weeks – this is another top game. We want to extend our lead at the top, but we need to be careful because the small artificial pitch means every throw-in can be like a corner."
