Vienna Amateurs Face Bottom-Table Challenge
This Saturday, the Vienna Amateurs will host SK Slovan HAC in the 20th round of the Wiener Stadtliga. After last week's defeat against Donau, the young squad is determined to get back to winning ways against the league’s bottom team.
Following three consecutive victories, the Döbling side suffered their first loss of 2025 with a tough 0-3 result against SV Donau last Friday, temporarily surrendering the top spot in the table. Now, head coach Gökce Tuna’s team is fully focused and highly motivated to reclaim their winning form against Slovan HAC.
“We analyzed last week’s match early in the week, but quickly moved on because, after all, the first 57 minutes were quite solid,” said Tuna, reflecting on the previous game.
Slovan Still Winless
The Hütteldorf-based side has yet to secure a victory in 2025, managing only a single point against Hellas Kagran in four matches. Longtime head coach Gerhard Werner, who has led the club since 2011, faces a tough relegation battle. However, with just one point separating them from second-bottom Mannswörth, survival remains within reach.
Coach Tuna on the upcoming match: “This won’t be an easy game, but we’ll give everything to secure the three points. Slovan is fighting against relegation and will likely sit deep, making it difficult for us. An early goal would help us a lot. Our plan is to unsettle them as quickly as possible.”
