Clash for Third Place: Vienna Host Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz
Matchday 23 of the ADMIRAL 2nd Division brings a real top clash for First Vienna FC: on Friday evening, the Blue and Yellows welcome Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz to the Naturarena Hohe Warte. Kick-off is at 6:00 PM. Tickets are available in advance at www.1894.at/tickets .
Showdown for Third Spot on the Table
Despite a narrow defeat to Rapid II in the previous round, Vienna remain in fourth place. Direct rivals Bregenz failed to capitalize on the opportunity to pull away, losing 1–3 to SV Stripfing. As a result, both sides remain level on points with 38 each, just behind Admira and Ried, forming the league leaders’ closest chasing duo.
Even the goal difference highlights just how tight it is: Bregenz sit at 42:32, while Vienna are at 40:32 – an almost identical picture. Friday’s head-to-head will therefore be a key fixture in the race for third place.
“Even though the last few games didn’t bring the results we wanted, there were still a lot of positives to take away,” emphasized head coach Mehmet Sütcü. “Now it’s about addressing our weaknesses and focusing fully on the upcoming match. Preparation has been intense – we want to step onto the pitch with full focus and determination.”
Scouting the Opponent: Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz
The side from Vorarlberg have shown strong form this spring, establishing themselves in the upper half of the table. After a loss in their opener against Voitsberg, they bounced back with a win over Liefering. A narrow defeat to Admira and back-to-back victories over Amstetten and Lafnitz confirmed their upward trend – until the recent setback against Stripfing.
Despite the stumble, Bregenz remain a serious threat. “Bregenz have a dangerous attacking line that can strike at any moment,” warned Sütcü. “We need to stay sharp, especially when transitioning from attack to defense. But we've prepared well, and the team is ready to take on the challenge.”
