Vienna Amateurs Host 1980 Wien
In Matchday 22 of the Wiener Stadtliga, the Vienna Amateurs face FC 1980 Wien. Just before a two-week break, the Amas are determined to pick up another home win at the Football Campus and defend their place at the top of the table.
Following their dramatic last-gasp victory away at Hellas Kagran, the next test for the Döbling side comes in the form of the unpredictable FC 1980 Wien. Coached by Fadil Mulalic, the Favoriten-based team currently sit 12th in the table. With a nine-point cushion above the relegation zone, they don’t have much at stake on paper – but based on their hard-fought 1–0 win in the reverse fixture, they’re expected to come out with plenty of energy once again.
Donau in Pursuit
1980’s form in the second half of the season has been inconsistent: after two early defeats, they went three games unbeaten before falling 3–5 in a goal-filled match against Austria XIII last weekend.
Vienna head coach Gökce Tuna sees his team in good shape:
“That last-minute win did something positive for the team. It gave the boys confidence, and now they know they can turn any game around.”
A win on Saturday would be all the more important with title challengers SV Donau also in action – they face Simmering, a mid-table side with little to play for, and will be aiming to knock the Blue and Yellows off the top spot.
Kick-off is on Saturday at 16:00. As always, we’re counting on the loyal Vienna fans to get behind the boys!
