Vienna FC Receives Approval for ADMIRAL 2. Liga Once Again

First Vienna FC 1894 has once again received approval for the ADMIRAL 2. Liga in the first instance. This confirms that the historic club from Döbling has met all the requirements to compete in Austria’s second-highest football division for the 2025/26 season. However, the license for the ADMIRAL Bundesliga was not granted.

Since its return to professional football, the club has consistently demonstrated solid work, and this is once again reflected in their fourth consecutive approval for the 2. Liga. This achievement highlights the sporting and organizational stability of Austria’s oldest football club.

“Receiving the license without any conditions is an important signal for us every year. It confirms our daily work and the path we are on to sustainably develop the club. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this success. We look forward to the upcoming challenges,” said Vienna CEO Thomas Loy, commenting on the positive feedback from the Austrian Football Bundesliga.

The club’s ultimate dream of reaching the Bundesliga remains a key target. For the second time, First Vienna FC 1894 participated in the licensing process for the top division. All economic requirements were successfully met, but formal sporting criteria prevented the granting of a license in the first instance. The club is currently working on a solution to ensure the fulfillment of all requirements both in the short term and long term.

With this renewed approval for the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, First Vienna FC 1894 will remain a fixed part of Austrian professional football for the 2025/26 season, as they ambitiously continue their sporting development.
