Vienna Amateurs Dazzle Again in 5–0 Win Over 1980 Wien
Matchday 22 of the Wiener Stadtliga saw the Vienna Amateurs turn in yet another dominant performance, this time at home against FC 1980 Wien. Gökce Tuna’s side once again hit top form and cruised to a convincing 5–0 victory.
Early Goal Sets the Tone
It couldn’t have started any better for the Döbling side. Just under two minutes into the match, Haris Zahirovic capitalised on a failed clearance by 1980 goalkeeper Mkrtichyan, calmly lifting the ball over him to give Vienna an early 1–0 lead.
From then on, the hosts controlled the game from back to front—solid defensively and lively in attack, even if further clear-cut chances took a while to come. But in the 19th minute, another strong spell of pressure led to the second goal of the day, scored by Louis Birkhahn. The 2–0 lead remained unchanged heading into halftime, but it was more than deserved.
Vienna Seals the Deal Early in the Second Half
Just like the first half, Vienna came out firing after the break. The pressure paid off again in the 50th minute when Louis Birkhahn struck his second of the game—and 14th of the season—to make it 3–0. That tally now sees him tied at the top of the league’s scoring charts with Lukas Heinicker of FC Stadlau.
But Vienna showed no signs of easing up. The league leaders remained on the front foot, pressing relentlessly and dominating possession. The only real chance for the visitors came in the form of a shot off the post midway through the half.
Late Goals Add Gloss to the Scoreline
In the final stages, Tuna’s side stepped it up once more. In the 84th minute, substitute Karl Höflich got on the end of a low cross to tap in the fourth. Then, in stoppage time, Aris Stogiannidis capped off the display with a cheeky nutmeg finish after a brilliant outside-foot pass—sealing a 5–0 rout just before the final whistle.
Head coach Gökce Tuna was full of praise for his side post-match:
“That was a very strong performance from the boys. Apart from a few moments after our first and second goals, we were in control throughout. We stuck to our game plan and showed our quality in many phases.”
