Vienna Hosts SV Lafnitz for Easter Match

Home Game in Round 25: On Easter Monday (5:00 PM), First Vienna FC 1894 will host SV Lafnitz at the Naturarena Hohe Warte. Following the weather-related postponement of the match against SK Sturm Graz II, coach Mehmet Sütcü’s team is eager to get back on track with a home win and maintain third place in the standings.

Tickets are available in advance at www.1894.at/tickets. Laola1 will stream the match live.

Intensive Preparation Instead of a Free Weekend

Rather than playing against SK Sturm Graz II as initially planned, Vienna had to adjust quickly after the match was postponed due to unplayable pitch conditions – a new date is yet to be set.

But there was no time for rest: “We immediately responded and added an extra training session,” coach Sütcü explains. “It was important to keep the intensity high and focus on Monday’s game. We want to be fully prepared against Lafnitz and give our fans three points for Easter.”

Solid Position for Blue and Yellow

Despite the cancelled match, Vienna still holds third place in the standings, thanks to Bregenz’s 2-3 loss to Horn. This is a welcome bonus for the team: With a home victory over Lafnitz, they can maintain their lead over the competition and remain firmly in the upper half of the 2nd League table.

The only downside is that captain Bernhard Luxbacher will miss the match due to a yellow card suspension, which he must serve after the postponement.

However, coach Sütcü sees this as an opportunity: “Of course, Berni is an important leader for us. But we have the quality to cover for his absence as a team. It’s a chance for others to step up and take responsibility.”

Sovereign at Home – The Next Challenge Awaits

Vienna’s last home game ended in a deserved 2-1 victory against SW Bregenz. Particularly in the first half, Vienna showed their class, dominating the game and giving the opponent little room to grow. Although the second half was more intense, the victory was never seriously in doubt.

Opponent Check: Lafnitz in a Critical Situation

The situation is quite different for the guests: SV Lafnitz is deeply embroiled in the relegation battle. With only 12 points from 24 games, they sit at the bottom of the table, 13 points behind safety. After their bitter 1-3 home loss to direct rival ASK Voitsberg, it’s clear: A point at Hohe Warte is almost a must if Lafnitz is to keep their survival hopes alive.

Coach Mehmet Sütcü warns against the Steiermark side: “Lafnitz is up against the wall. They’ll throw everything into this game to fight for survival. That’s why we need to be sharp and fully focused from the very first minute.”

An Advantage for Vienna? On paper, yes – but that’s where the danger lies. Teams fighting relegation are often unpredictable, and SV Lafnitz will throw everything they have at this match.

Easter Specials for Young and Old Fans

There’s also a colorful program for fans off the pitch:
🐰 The first 150 children will receive a free Lindt Easter Bunny, handed out right in front of the stadium. So, arriving early is worth it!
🛍️ The fan shop has the new Vienna bear and many other fresh items – perfect for Easter baskets or just to collect.

Kick-off is on Easter Monday at 5:00 PM – Vienna is counting on you! Let’s celebrate football and the Easter holiday together at our Naturarena Hohe Warte.
