Vienna Travel to ASK Voitsberg
In Matchday 26 of the ADMIRAL 2nd League, First Vienna FC 1894 head to Styria for an away fixture against ASK Voitsberg. The match will be played on Friday, April 25, with kickoff set for 18:00 at the Münzer Bioindustrie Sportpark in Voitsberg. Six Matches, One Goal: Keeping the Slim Promotion Hopes Alive
Including the recently rescheduled match against Sturm Graz II (set for April 29), Vienna have six matches remaining in the current campaign. While the chances of direct promotion have dwindled, the Blue and Yellows are not giving up on their dream.
In an effort to spark a strong finish to the season, the coaching setup has been restructured: Stefan Manzana Marin takes over as Head Coach, working alongside Mehmet Sütcü and Roman Kienast, with a clear objective – to defy the odds and push for the impossible.
Captain Returns: Luxbacher Back from Suspension
A key boost ahead of the trip to Voitsberg comes in the form of captain Bernhard Luxbacher, who returns to the squad after serving a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation. He is expected to be fully available on Friday.
Even without their skipper, Vienna delivered a solid performance in their last outing, a 2–1 win over SV Lafnitz. Despite missing several clear chances, the team controlled the tempo and secured a professional result.
Voitsberg Battling the Drop
ASK Voitsberg are currently fighting to avoid relegation. The Styrian side sit just three points above the drop zone, with 28 points, narrowly ahead of SV Stripfing. Motivation will be high as they look to claim crucial home points in their survival fight.
After a rough start to the season — their first win came only on Matchday 9 against Lafnitz — David Preiss’ side has shown signs of life. Recent results include a draw against Stripfing and a win over bottom side Lafnitz. Voitsberg are currently 11th in the table, level on points with FAC.
A Cup Rematch Setting
While this will be Vienna’s first league match at the Sportpark in Voitsberg, the ground holds recent memories. The two sides met here in last season’s ÖFB Cup, where Vienna edged out Voitsberg in extra time, courtesy of a goal from Christoph Monschein.
Earlier this season, Vienna claimed a narrow but confident 1–0 home win over Voitsberg. The mission for Friday remains clear: secure three points and keep the faint promotion dream alive.
