Vienna hosts league leaders St. Pölten
This coming Sunday, April 27, Vienna will face SKN St. Pölten in the third round of the Championship Group of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga. After a difficult spell, the Blue and Yellows are determined to turn things around at home at the Hohe Warte. But it won’t be easy — the current league leaders and most in-form team in the competition are coming to Döbling.
Vienna has yet to pick up a point since the league split and is coming off a tough 0–5 derby defeat against Austria. Still, hope remains: the gap to third place, currently held by Sturm Graz, is only one point. With several rounds remaining, everything is still to play for.
St. Pölten firmly in control
St. Pölten have been in top form in recent weeks. The reigning champions extended their lead over second-placed Austria to five points and are well on course to defend their title once again.
Despite the clear roles on paper, Vienna has shown in recent meetings with SKN that they can compete. In their last league clash at the Hohe Warte, Vienna came away with a 2–1 home win. The two teams also played a hard-fought Cup semifinal recently, where Vienna held their own for much of the match — before St. Pölten struck late to secure a 4–2 win and a spot in the final.
