Vienna Hosts Kapfenberg in Battle for Third Place

In the 27th round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, a direct battle for third place will take place this Sunday. First Vienna FC will host Kapfenberger SV at the Naturarena Hohe Warte. The Sunday matinee kicks off at 10:30 AM.

Early Riser's Reward: Brunch with Football Feeling

Sunday brings a unique football experience – a brunch with football feeling. Vienna will face Kapfenberg in the Sunday matinee, aiming to secure third place in the standings. Tickets are available in advance as always atn (http://www.1894.at/tickets).

Direct Duel for Third Place

With 47 points, Vienna currently sits in third place, closely followed by Kapfenberg, who are just two points behind with 45 points in fourth place. After the bitter 1-4 loss to Sturm Graz II earlier in the week, Vienna is looking to bounce back and defend their position in the table.

Although the chances of promotion following the loss to Sturm Graz are now mostly theoretical, the team’s sporting ambition remains undiminished, and a strong finish to the season is still the goal.

Vienna Under Pressure, Kapfenberg in Top Form

Before the postponed match against Sturm Graz II, Vienna had won three games in a row, showing strong form. The surprising heavy defeat on Tuesday now needs to be overcome.

In contrast, the mood is high in the Kapfenberg camp: The visitors come to Hohe Warte full of confidence after winning their last three league matches, including impressive victories over Rapid II, Amstetten, and most recently a strong 2-1 win against promotion contender Ried. Kapfenberg has now established themselves as a real contender for third place in the season’s final stretch.

Giuliani Extends Contract – Key Players Still Missing

Despite the sporting disappointment on Tuesday, there was some positive news for Vienna: Goalkeeper Christopher Giuliani has extended his contract until 2027, remaining a key part of the club's future plans.

However, the coach's team will still have to manage without several key players: Kelvin Boateng, Christoph Monschein, and Markus Rusek will remain sidelined due to injury.

Vienna's Home Advantage

Recent history favors Vienna: Since their return to the second division, they have secured three wins, one draw, and just one loss against Kapfenberg. Vienna also won the away fixture in Steiermark, with Patrick Schmidt scoring the winning goal in the 85th minute for a 2-1 victory.

Vienna is now looking to extend their strong home record, with their fans backing them to respond positively to the midweek defeat.

Last Sunday Matinee of the Season

This match will be the last Sunday matinee for Vienna this season. Before the final home match against Amstetten, it offers perfect conditions for a football-filled Sunday morning at Hohe Warte. Additionally, there will be a special halftime event to provide extra entertainment for the spectators.

Those who can’t attend the match live in the stadium can follow the game via livestream on laola1.at.
