Vienna Amateurs Seeking Redemption Against SV Schwechat
In Matchday 25 of the Wiener Stadtliga, the Vienna Amateure are aiming to bounce back from their defeat to Stadlau. To do so, they'll need to claim all three points against SV Schwechat, who currently sit in 10th place—at least for now.
Last weekend was one to forget for the young squad. Not only did they suffer a 2-4 loss to FC Stadlau, but they also had to cope with injuries to Oskar Weitmayr and Santino Pistrol. At least Weitmayr, according to head coach Gökce Tuna, is expected to be fit for the upcoming clash. The mission for this weekend: get back to winning ways and stay on top of the table.
Schwechat Unpredictable in the Second Half of the Season
2025 has been a rollercoaster ride for the Lower Austrian side. While they thrashed Slovan HAC 4-0, they were hammered 0-8 by Donau the week before. In the remaining fixtures, Schwechat have recorded two wins, three draws, and two losses—consistently holding onto 10th place since the second half of the season began. Most recently, the two-time Regionalliga East champions earned a 3-1 win over FC 1980 Wien. Aleksandar Palalic's side will now be targeting a top-nine finish over the final six matchdays.
Asked about his team’s response to last week’s defeat, Vienna head coach Gökce Tuna said:
“We try to forget losses quickly and focus on the next match. We talk about the mistakes, and then we move on. The lads are fired up, and with a solid performance, we’ll bag the three points this week.”
Tuna also addressed the current injury concerns:
“The situation with Birkhahn remains the same, and now we also have to do without Pistrol. Luckily, Oskar Weitmayr is fit again. Regardless of who plays or doesn’t, the players who’ve had fewer minutes so far need to step up and make the most of their opportunity.
