Vienna Amateurs deliver a statement win over Schwechat
It was a commanding performance as First Vienna FC Amateure hosted SV Schwechat on Matchday 25 of the Wiener Stadtliga. Just one week after their defeat in Stadlau, Gökce Tuna’s side bounced back in style with an emphatic 4–1 victory on home turf.
First half all Vienna
From the opening whistle, the young Vienna side made it clear they were determined to take all three points. Just five minutes in, Blau-Gelb struck for the first time. After a well-worked passing move, the ball found Karl Höflich in the box, who smashed home the opener to make it 1–0. But Vienna didn’t let up—just moments later, they hit the crossbar, underlining their early dominance.
Compared to last week’s outing, the team looked vastly improved—winning duels across the pitch and creating chance after chance. The only criticism: their finishing left a bit to be desired. Schwechat barely featured in the first half and were fortunate to go into the break trailing by just a single goal.
Total control from Vienna
The second half picked up where the first left off. In the 49th minute, a low cross from the right found Vincent Zeidler, who coolly slotted in to make it 2–0. Schwechat tried to respond by upping the tempo, but Vienna’s backline held firm—until the 66th minute, when keeper Troindl misjudged a cross, allowing Yannic Mattes to pull one back for the visitors.
The Amateure, however, weren’t rattled. Just five minutes later, Aris Stogiannidis restored the two-goal cushion, calmly finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a well-timed run. Schwechat were out of ideas, managing only a header off the bar from a set piece in the final minutes.
The final word belonged to Mohamed Hosein Saidi, who scored his first goal of the season in stoppage time, tapping home a counterattack to seal the 4–1 win. It was a dominant display and a clear statement: the Vienna Amateure are back on top of the Wiener Stadtliga.
Coach Tuna delighted
Head coach Gökce Tuna was full of praise for his side:
"The boys gave it everything from the first minute. That was honestly one of the best games we’ve played in a long time. Realistically, it should have been 3–0 or 4–0 by the 15th minute, but overall, the lads did a top job."
Tuna also singled out 16-year-old Matteo Roschütz for special praise on his debut:
"He played his first match in the holding midfield role and was a joy to watch. It’s always great when young players come up and not only hold their own but stand out in a positive way."
