Season finale at the Hohe Warte against SKU Amstetten

On Friday evening, First Vienna FC 1894 plays its final home game of the season. Vienna hosts SKU Amstetten at the natural arena Hohe Warte. After an intense campaign, the Blue and Yellows want to celebrate a fitting end to the season with a home win and thank the fans for their outstanding support. Tickets for the 6:00 PM match are available in advance at www.1894.at/tickets

5th place secured – top 3 still within reach

Vienna currently sits in fifth place on the table. With an eight-point lead over Liefering, this position is guaranteed two rounds before the end. But there's still something to play for further up the table: Döbling’s side is just one point behind St. Pölten and three behind Kapfenberg. So a top-three finish remains within reach.

Head coach Mehmet Sütcü offers an early summary: “For large parts of the season, we played very solidly and proved we belong in this league. Of course, we would have liked to be more consistent in the decisive moments, but securing a top-five finish is something we can definitely be satisfied with.”

Out of the title race, but still going strong

Following two defeats against Sturm II and Kapfenberg, Vienna dropped out of the promotion race early. In the last round, the team picked up a 1–1 away draw against Lustenau – with a bit more cutting edge in front of goal, a win was within reach. Now the team wants to show their quality one last time in the final home fixture.

“A home win to end the season would be the perfect send-off – for us, but above all for our fans. We want to head into the summer break with a positive feeling,” says the coach.

Strong record against Amstetten

Vienna boasts a perfect record against SKU Amstetten: since promotion in 2022, the two sides have met five times – five wins for Vienna, including a 3–1 away victory in November. Amstetten has become something of a favourite opponent.

But caution is advised: Amstetten has stabilized this season. After narrowly avoiding relegation last year, the team is now sitting in 10th place and enjoying a solid campaign. Most recently, they recorded a clear 5–1 win over Lafnitz and a surprise victory against Admira.

“Amstetten is playing with freedom and has picked up strong results in recent weeks. They’re a team that will test us, and we need to be switched on from the very first minute,” warns the Vienna coach.
