LAC-Inter awaits Vienna Amateure
The end of the season is fast approaching. In Round 27 of the Wiener Stadtliga, the Vienna Amateure will face off against Landstraßer AC-Inter. In this clash between two promoted sides, the Amateure are aiming to secure three vital points in the title race.
With just four matchdays remaining, the Wiener Stadtliga couldn't be more exciting. Following a 1-1 draw for the Vienna Amateure in Simmering and SV Donau’s win in Mannswörth, both teams are now level on points at the top of the table with 53 each. Since Donau will be facing SV Wienerberg – a team currently in the top four – Vienna may have the chance to reclaim sole possession of first place.
LAC already safe
For LAC-Inter, who were promoted from the 1. Landesliga alongside Vienna before the season, the campaign is essentially wrapped up. With a 13-point cushion above the relegation zone, the two-time Wiener Stadtliga champions are mathematically safe.
Still, Vienna head coach Gökce Tuna warns against underestimating the opponent: “They’re fighters who give everything in every match – that has to be said honestly. I don’t expect them to ease off against us just because they’re safe. We're top of the table, and that’s motivation enough for them. LAC isn’t a team that backs off.”
Goal difference could be the decider
If Vienna and Donau remain tied on points at the end of Matchday 30, the head-to-head record would be considered first. Since the direct encounters ended 5-2 and 0-3, that tiebreaker is also level. The next criterion would be goal difference – where Vienna currently holds a slight advantage.
Coach Tuna emphasizes the importance of scoring: “We’re hoping for a strong performance, not just to secure the three points but also to boost our goal tally, because goal difference could be crucial. What gives me confidence is the attitude of the boys – even though last week didn’t go as planned, they’re fully committed and want to win the title.”
