Defensive reinforcement: Osarenren Okungbowa signs with First Vienna FC 1894
First Vienna FC 1894 continues its squad planning for the upcoming season by announcing its second summer signing. Osarenren Okungbowa joins the club from WSG Tirol and has signed a contract until summer 2027.
For the 31-year-old central defender, a native of Vienna, the transfer marks a return to his hometown. Okungbowa brings plenty of experience and composure, particularly from the Austrian Bundesliga, where he made 53 appearances for WSG Tirol. The left-footed centre-back, known for his strong tackling, was a key figure in Tirol's defence over the past three years.
Career with international experience
Before his time in Tirol, Okungbowa gained experience abroad in Germany. He featured in 31 matches in the 3. Liga for VfB Lübeck and made 29 competitive appearances for Kickers Offenbach. Prior to that, he had already played for several Austrian clubs, including Rapid Wien, SKN St. Pölten, and Floridsdorfer AC, with a total of 28 appearances in Austria’s top two divisions.
Youth development and early steps
Okungbowa began his footballing education at SR Donaufeld. In 2010, he moved to the academy of SK Rapid Wien and started gaining senior experience with Rapid II in 2012.
