Marco Djuricin Bolsters Vienna’s Attack
First Vienna FC 1894 has added a high-profile name to its frontline: former Austrian international Marco Djuricin joins the club from SV Stripfing, signing a contract with Austria’s oldest football club that runs until summer 2027.
With Djuricin, Vienna brings in a striker with extensive international experience. The 32-year-old featured in eleven matches for league rivals Stripfing during the spring of 2025, netting six goals. His clinical finishing and football intelligence quickly made him one of the standout attacking players of the second half of the season.
A well-traveled career at home and abroad
Djuricin’s football journey reads like a globe-trotter’s diary, with stops across Austria, Germany, Switzerland, England, Croatia, Slovakia, and Hungary—proof of his international calibre. Before joining Stripfing, he played for Croatian top-flight side HNK Rijeka and spent time on loan at Spartak Trnava. Between 2021 and 2023, he wore the colours of Austria Wien, scoring 19 goals in 53 competitive appearances.
The Vienna-born striker also featured for clubs including Karlsruher SC, Grasshopper Club Zürich, Ferencváros, Brentford FC, SK Sturm Graz, and FC Red Bull Salzburg. In total, he has made 97 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 33 goals.
Early development and international caps
Djuricin developed in the youth systems of Austria Wien and SK Rapid before moving to Bundesliga outfit Hertha BSC, where he made his breakthrough in professional football. He earned two senior caps for the Austrian national team.
Sporting director Andreas Ivanschitz on the signing: “Marco is a major asset for us. He brings with him a wealth of experience from both domestic and international football, along with sharp finishing skills and great vision. He’s both a creator and a finisher. His presence and leadership on the pitch will benefit our squad tremendously, and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
Marco Djuricin on joining Vienna: “I’m really happy to become part of Vienna. The talks with the club were very positive from the start, and I could immediately sense that something exciting is being built here. I want to contribute with my experience, lead by example, and help the team achieve great things. Hohe Warte is a special place, and I can’t wait to wear the Vienna shirt.”
