Lara Felix Joins Vienna from Nürnberg
First Vienna FC has announced a prominent new signing for the upcoming season. Two-time Austrian senior international Lara Felix is transferring from 1. FC Nürnberg to Austria’s oldest football club.
From Neulengbach to Nürnberg
At just 22 years old, the midfielder already brings an impressive career background. She began her journey in the youth academy of SC Wollers Komet, followed by stints at FC Stadlau and FAC. In 2017, she joined SKN St. Pölten, spending three seasons there before making the next move in her career to USV Neulengbach. Felix made 33 competitive appearances for Neulengbach before transferring to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2022, stepping into Germany’s second division.
At the "Club," Felix quickly established herself as a key player, contributing four goals and four assists to the team’s promotion to the top flight. She went on to make six appearances in the German Bundesliga, although she missed most of the season due to a knee injury. After three years in Germany, she now returns home to Austria.
Return to Vienna
Following her time abroad, Felix is returning to Vienna. For Vienna head coach Mark Dobrounig, the transfer makes perfect sense: “Lara is a creative player with exceptional football intelligence. She solves situations instinctively, making her unpredictable. We want to give her the space to show exactly that again.”
Dobrounig has known the player for years and is convinced: “She brings a lot of experience and never gave up despite setbacks in Germany. In Vienna, she’ll find a familiar environment where she can fully develop her strengths again.”
Caps for the Senior National Team
Felix’s strong performances in the Austrian Women’s Bundesliga for USV Neulengbach didn’t go unnoticed by then-head coach Irene Fuhrmann. She made her debut for the Austrian national team in 2021 against Italy, followed by another cap in 2022.
Lara Felix on her new challenge in Vienna-Döbling: “I’m really looking forward to this new chapter, to seeing familiar faces in Vienna, and to being back on the pitch. After my injury break, it’s even more important for me to get match practice, build confidence, and find my rhythm again. I want to contribute to the team’s success. Returning to Austria feels right, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
