Amateurs Head into Final Away Match Against Bottom Side Mannswörth
In the early fixture of matchday 30 in the Wiener Stadtliga, the First Vienna FC Amateurs will play their final away match of the season against the league’s bottom club, SC Mannswörth. While Gökce Tuna’s side no longer has the title in their own hands, three points remain absolutely crucial.
After three consecutive draws, Vienna’s youngsters have slipped to second place behind SV Donau. With only two games left, they must now rely on at least one slip-up from the Kaisermühlen-based leaders, while winning both of their remaining matches. That makes the upcoming clash with last-placed Mannswörth all the more important.
Mannswörth Still Holding on to Survival Hopes
It’s been a season to forget for SC Mannswörth. The Lower Austrian side has managed just four points in twelve matches during the spring round, and sits at 18 points overall — now in last place. However, with only two points separating them from Slovan HAC, survival is still within reach. Under interim coach Daniel Polainko, who took over less than two months ago, the team hopes to draw on its experience from twelve straight seasons in the Stadtliga. And with the pressure of relegation already looming, they truly have nothing left to lose.
Vienna won the reverse fixture 3–1 at home in the final round of the first half of the season. Coach Gökce Tuna and his side will do everything they can to repeat that result.
Hoping for a Donau Slip-Up
Recent dropped points have reshaped the picture at the top of the table. SV Donau now leads with 57 points, two ahead of the Vienna Amateurs. Donau’s final opponents are Austria XIII and Red Star Penzing. For Vienna to still clinch the title, Donau must fail to win at least one of those matches — while the Döblingers must likely secure six points from their own final two games. A final-day showdown in a long-distance title race remains a real possibility.
