Luca Edelhofer Extends Contract with Vienna Until 2028
First Vienna FC 1894 has announced the contract extension of forward Luca Edelhofer. The 24-year-old striker will remain with the Blue and Yellows until the summer of 2028 and continue to be a key attacking presence at Hohe Warte in the years to come.
With this extension, Vienna secures the services of a player who has become a vital part of the squad in recent years. Edelhofer joined the Döbling-based club in the summer of 2020 at the age of 19, arriving from the Young Violets. Since then, he has shown remarkable development. He has made 124 competitive appearances for Vienna, including 75 matches in the ADMIRAL 2nd League, and has scored a total of 25 goals.
Following his arrival in 2020 during the club’s time in the Wiener Stadtliga, Edelhofer was part of Vienna’s rapid ascent back into professional football. First came promotion to the Regionalliga Ost, and just one year later, a direct promotion to the ADMIRAL 2nd League – a return to Austria’s professional stage that ended an eight-year drought for the historic club. Edelhofer played a key role in that achievement.
Edelhofer also made headlines in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, helping Vienna reach the quarter-finals in the 2020/21 season. There, the team faced top-flight side Sturm Graz in an intense battle, narrowly losing 0-1 away.
Sporting director Andreas Ivanschitz expressed his satisfaction with the extension: “Luca is a player who completely identifies with Vienna, both on and off the pitch. With his goals and assists last season, he was a crucial part of our attacking force. We’re very happy to have secured a long-term extension and to continue the journey we began together in July 2020.”
