Jongmin Seo joins First Vienna FC 1894
First Vienna FC 1894 has strengthened its squad with the addition of South Korean attacking player Jongmin Seo. The 23-year-old joins from Chemnitzer FC and has signed a contract at Hohe Warte until summer 2027.
Seo brings international experience and promising attacking qualities to Vienna. Born in Seoul, he was developed in the youth academy of Eintracht Frankfurt, where he also played for their U19 team. In 2021, he moved to Dynamo Dresden, making four appearances in the 2. Bundesliga.
He then gained valuable match experience at Wacker Innsbruck in Austria’s ADMIRAL 2nd League, scoring four goals in eleven matches during the second half of the 2021/22 season. In January 2024, he transferred from Dresden to Norwegian top-tier club FK Haugesund. During the 2024/25 season, Seo played for Chemnitzer FC in Germany’s Regionalliga Nordost, scoring eight goals in 26 appearances – a performance that earned him attention for the next level.
Sporting Director Andreas Ivanschitz had this to say about the signing:
“I’m very pleased that the transfer of Jongmin to Vienna has gone through. Jongmin is a dynamic, intelligent attacking player with excellent technical skills. He’s versatile, brings pace, creativity, and finishing ability – exactly the attributes we were looking for.”
Able to play on the left wing or in attacking midfield, Jongmin Seo is looking forward to the new challenge:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the oldest football club in Austria. The conversations with the club, especially with Andreas Ivanschitz, were very respectful and convincing. I feel like something special is being built here, and I want to give everything to help Vienna succeed. I’m really excited to meet my new teammates and get started on the pitch.”
