Lucas Dantas strengthens Vienna’s Midfield
First Vienna FC 1894 has added a promising new signing to bolster its midfield: Lucas Dantas joins from FC Blau-Weiß Linz and signs a contract until summer 2026, with an option for an additional year.
The 23-year-old midfielder is known for his stamina, tackling strength, and football intelligence. He is expected to bring both defensive stability and creative impetus in possession to the Blue and Yellows' game.
Sporting Director Andreas Ivanschitz commented:
“With Lucas, we’re gaining a player who combines physical strength, dynamism, and technical quality. He brings key attributes that will add stability and versatility to our midfield. We’re confident he’ll take the next step in his development here with us.”
First Bundesliga Experience in Linz
Dantas was trained in Brazil, where he played for Castanhal EC, CA Votuporanguense, and EC Lemense, before making the move to Europe in 2024. With Blau-Weiß Linz, he gained his first experience in Austria’s top flight, making his ADMIRAL Bundesliga debut in August 2024.
In the 2024/25 season, he made four league appearances and one ÖFB Cup appearance. Although an injury briefly sidelined him, he was able to show his potential again toward the end of the season.
Dantas Eager for His New Challenge
The Brazilian is full of anticipation to wear the Blue and Yellow jersey:
“I’m really excited about this new challenge with Vienna,” said Dantas. “The club has great tradition and ambitious goals – and I want to contribute to our success. My goal is to develop further, get as much playing time as possible, and help the team with passion and commitment.”
Bem-vindo à Vienna, Lucas!
