Traditional Clash at Hohe Warte: Vienna Hosts Austria Salzburg
This coming Friday marks the long-awaited home opener between Vienna and Austria Salzburg. Over 3,700 tickets have already been sold for the highly anticipated match at Hohe Warte. The ORF Sport+ Top Match of the Round kicks off at 8:30 PM. Remaining tickets are still available at www.1894.at/tickets.
Excitement is building in Döbling, with over 3,700 tickets already sold for the clash against newly promoted Austria Salzburg. With a capacity of 4,500, Hohe Warte is heading toward a sold-out crowd. Those who still want to attend should act quickly and secure the remaining tickets online at www.1894.at/tickets.
A special evening for team and fans
The home opener couldn’t come under better circumstances. Austria’s oldest football club has fulfilled its duties so far. With two away wins from their first two competitive matches, Vienna heads into the first home game full of confidence. In the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, the team coached by Gitsov/Sütcü secured a 3–1 away win against Tillmitsch. Last Friday, Döbling earned a solid 2–0 away victory over SV Stripfing in the first round of the ADMIRAL 2nd League.
Now, the Blue and Yellows finally return to play in front of their home crowd. Vienna is eager to carry the momentum from their early-season successes and provide fans with a special football evening on Friday.
Captain Bernhard Luxbacher speaks for the entire team when he says:
“Finally, a home match again! After the long summer break, you can really feel how excited everyone at the club is to be back playing at Hohe Warte. The first home game is always something special, and the fact that it’s against Austria Salzburg makes it even more exciting. It’s a traditional duel that deserves the kind of stage we’ll have on Friday. We want to show that we’re strong at home and give our fans a performance to remember.”
Austria Salzburg fighting for their first points
Austria Salzburg is celebrating its return to professional football this season. After being relegated in 2016, the club—much like Vienna—fought its way back step by step, earning promotion to the ADMIRAL 2nd League last season by winning the Regionalliga West.
However, the start of the season hasn’t gone as hoped for the Salzburg side. In the cup, they narrowly lost 0–1 to ASKÖ Oedt, coached by former Vienna manager Hans Kleer. Their first league match also ended in a narrow 1–2 home defeat to Austria Klagenfurt. Despite these results, Vienna is well aware of their opponent’s quality.
Captain Bernhard Luxbacher emphasizes:
“Even though Austria Salzburg hasn’t earned any points yet, we must not underestimate them. Every promoted team is highly motivated to prove themselves in the new league, and I’m sure they’ll give everything against us to earn their first points. We need to be fully focused from the first minute, win the challenges, and play our game. If we stay concentrated and take our chances, I’m confident we’ll have a successful evening in front of our fans.”
