Gontie Junior Diomandé leaves Vienna
Vienna has announced the departure of Gontie Junior Diomandé. The attacking midfielder is leaving Austria’s oldest football club after one season and is joining Maccabi Netanya in Israel.
Diomandé moved to Vienna in the summer of 2024 from SV Ried. For the Döbling-based club, the 22-year-old played 29 matches last season, scoring three goals – including two spectacular long-range strikes that many Vienna fans will remember. With his dynamism and goal threat, he repeatedly posed a major challenge for opposing defenses.
After just one season in Döbling, Diomandé is taking the next step in his career. He is moving to Israel, where he will join top-flight side Maccabi Netanya.
Sporting director Andreas Ivanschitz praised the departing player: “We wish Junior all the best for his new chapter in Israel. During his time with us, he repeatedly showcased his footballing quality. We sincerely thank him for his performances in the blue-and-yellow shirt and wish him much success both on and off the pitch in the future.”
Vienna thanks Junior for his contributions and wishes him all the best for his sporting and personal future.
