Vienna signs Sini Laaksonen
The season is already in full swing, but Vienna has made another move in the transfer market: Finnish midfielder Sini Laaksonen is joining the club in Vienna. The 29-year-old brings plenty of international experience and was most recently under contract with Turkish champions ABB Fomget SK.
Laaksonen is a defensive midfielder with strong game intelligence and excellent build-up play. She offers tackling strength, physical presence, and good vision on the pitch.
International experience for Vienna
The Finn began her career at TPS Turku, where she scored nine goals in 61 competitive matches. In 2020, she moved abroad to Ferencváros Budapest, before transferring six months later to Real Betis in Spain. She made 28 appearances for the Andalusian club.
In the summer of 2022, she joined Vilaverdense FC in Portugal. In her first season there, she played 28 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists. A year later, she moved to Racing Power FC, where she scored three times in 27 games. In 2024, Laaksonen signed for Turkish top side ABB Fomget SK, winning the league title and contributing three goals and four assists.
Also active for the youth national teams
Laaksonen is now continuing her career with Vienna – another milestone in an impressive journey. She has also gained valuable experience in the national jersey: for Finland’s youth national teams, she made a total of 23 appearances and scored once at the U20 World Cup 2014.
