Bitter 0–2 Derby Defeat Against FAC
In the 9th round of the ADMIRAL 2nd League, Vienna faced FAC in the city derby. After a first half full of chances but without goals, the visitors made better use of their opportunities after the break and won 2–0.
Vienna relied on the same starting eleven that had earned a 3–0 away win in Kapfenberg.
Early chances for both sides
The home side created the first danger in the 3rd minute: Luxbacher broke through strongly, but the Floridsdorf defenders cleared the cross for a corner. FAC had their first opportunity in the 8th minute, when a cross found Dias at the far post, but his shot went wide.
Vienna more active – FAC waiting for mistakes
Vienna controlled the match, while the visitors focused mainly on exploiting errors. In the 16th minute, Schmidt tried his luck from a tight angle, but the ball went past the goal.
Injury setback and moment of shock
In the 20th minute, Ungar pressed aggressively after FAC defender Bitsche miscontrolled the ball. In doing so, the Floridsdorf player caught his opponent from behind – and at the same time, it was an unfortunate moment for Vienna: Ungar injured himself in the challenge and had to be substituted. Susso came on in his place.
Shortly after, FAC almost took the lead: Aisowieren broke through after a long ball, but Vienna keeper Unger made a strong save to deny him.
Chances piling up for Döbling
After the brief scare, Vienna regained control. In the 32nd minute, Seo played an excellent through ball, but goalkeeper Kirchmayr got there just before Susso. Three minutes later, Susso headed narrowly wide after a cross from Bauer. Moments later, he rose again after a corner, but his powerful header bounced off the ground and over the bar.
FAC responds – Vienna stays dangerous
The visitors created another half-chance, but Unger was once again solid. In added time, Dantas had one last effort of the half, but his shot flew well over the target.
After an intense 51 minutes with opportunities for both sides, the teams went into the break at 0–0. Vienna had controlled large parts of the half, but both Susso for the hosts and Aisowieren for FAC could have opened the scoring.
No change after the break
Both sides resumed without substitutions, and the game pattern remained the same. Vienna had more possession, while FAC looked to hit on the counter. The first good chance came in the 54th minute, when Dantas’ header from a free kick went narrowly wide.
FAC takes the lead
In the 61st minute, the visitors struck: A long ball found Glavan, who looked to be in an offside position, but he finished one-on-one against Unger. The keeper got his fingertips to the ball but couldn’t prevent the 0–1. Just a few minutes later, FAC had another chance, but Unger was alert again.
Vienna makes changes – FAC hits the post
Coach Kleer reacted in the 66th minute, bringing on Nnamdi and Zimmermann for Seo and Schmidt. Yet the next big chance belonged to FAC: in the 69th minute, Neumann’s shot hit the post and rebounded into Unger’s arms.
Floridsdorf doubles the lead
FAC continued to press and were rewarded in the 74th minute. Untergrabner met a cross, broke free, and slotted home to make it 0–2.
Vienna brought on Abdijanovic and Edelhofer for Dantas and Luxbacher to inject new energy, but real danger was hard to come by. The visitors defended with focus and allowed little space. A long-range effort in the 90th minute posed no threat to Kirchmayr. Shortly after, Unger had to intervene on a high ball, tipping it for a corner. In stoppage time, an offside flag halted another FAC counterattack.
Disappointing derby conclusion
In the end, Vienna had to accept a bitter 0–2 home defeat in the derby. After the international break, the Blue and Yellows will travel to face Sturm II.
