Floodlit Match: Vienna Women vs. LASK

Friday evening – a special time for every Vienna fan. And even during the international break, you don’t have to miss your weekly dose of Friday night adrenaline, because our women’s team will face LASK this Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the Hohe Warte. Come by and support our team!

With Friday’s match against LASK, Vienna will have completed the first round of the regular season. Next week already, our team will meet SKN St. Pölten once again. Until spring, there are still important points to collect before the league table splits into the upper and lower playoff rounds at the end of March.

The Vienna women have so far earned eight points in the opening rounds. Their current league position (7th) doesn’t fully reflect their performances. Luck in front of goal has often been missing, or self-inflicted mistakes made things unnecessarily difficult. A win against LASK could see Vienna leapfrog the Linz side in the standings.

LASK have collected ten points so far and currently sit in 6th place. Last week, they suffered a 0–4 defeat against SKN St. Pölten.

Head coach Mark Dobrounig on the upcoming match: “The last few weeks haven’t been easy for us. We’ve often been the dominant team, but too rarely rewarded ourselves for it in recent rounds. We expect another tough match against LASK. It will be crucial that we play with courage and consistently bring our game onto the pitch. If we manage to harness the momentum together with our fans behind us, I’m convinced that the three points will stay at the Hohe Warte.”

In last week’s away match against SCR Altach, the Blue-and-Yellows showed great spirit. They came back twice from behind, but the decisive winning goal in the closing minutes didn’t materialize — the game ended 2–2. Vienna still managed to take an important point home from Vorarlberg.
