Vienna Fall 0–2 at Home to LASK
In the 9th round of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, Vienna hosted LASK at home. The game remained open for long stretches before the visitors struck twice in the second half. The match ended in a 0–2 defeat for Vienna.
Head coach Mark Dobrounig largely relied on the same lineup as in Altach, making just two changes: Sarac replaced the suspended Pfanner, and Fankhauser returned to the starting eleven in place of Wasser.
Early Chance for Kerschbaumer
Vienna created the first real opportunity as early as the 5th minute. Höcherl played a short free kick to Kerschbaumer, whose shot from the edge of the box narrowly missed the far corner.
In the following minutes, the game remained evenly balanced, with few clear chances on either side. Vienna struggled to break through the solid Linz defensive line and create danger in front of goal.
Goalless at the Break
The closing phase of the first half painted a similar picture: Vienna dictated the tempo but couldn’t capitalize on their possession. The teams went into the dressing rooms with the score 0–0.
LASK Take the Lead
LASK came out stronger after the break, helped by growing inaccuracies in Vienna’s play. In the 55th minute, a corner kick found Svibkova completely unmarked, and the striker headed home to give the visitors the lead.
LASK Double Their Advantage
Following the goal, Vienna made their first substitution, bringing on Schneiderbauer for Fankhauser. However, the team struggled to recover from the setback, and things got worse in the 70th minute: LASK won the ball in midfield, played a fine through pass to Svibkova, who rounded Piplits and slotted into the empty net for 0–2.
Vienna’s next notable chance came in the 76th minute, when Hahn’s shot from a tight angle was too central to trouble the keeper. In the 80th minute, Wasser replaced Sarac as Vienna made another change.
Despite their efforts, Vienna were unable to create any serious chances in the closing stages. LASK defended solidly and saw the game out to secure the three points. The match ended 0–2 from Vienna’s perspective.
