Men’s First Team Opens Home Game Double Weekend
Our first team faces their next home match this weekend. On Saturday at 2:30 PM, our team will meet SKU Amstetten. Come by and support the team!
This isn’t the first time Vienna and Amstetten have faced each other this season. Back in the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, the two teams met — Vienna lost the away game 1–2 and was eliminated from the cup. In the third round, Amstetten faced last season’s cup winner, WAC, and fought their way into extra time, where WAC scored the decisive goal to win 3–2.
Vienna Aiming for a Home Victory
The past few weeks have been a mix of highs and lows for Vienna. After a 3–0 win against Kapfenberg came a defeat against FAC. Away against Sturm Graz II, the blue-and-yellows earned a 2–0 victory, but in last round’s top match against Admira, they suffered a 1–3 loss.
Now, against Amstetten, Vienna hopes to finally secure the long-awaited home win — though it won’t be easy. SKU Amstetten has been unbeaten in the league for eight rounds and currently sits fourth in the table.
Vienna and Amstetten are separated by just three points. With a win, the blue-and-yellows, currently eighth, could make a significant jump forward. The 2nd Division table remains tight: between third place (Austria Lustenau) and eleventh (FC Liefering) there are only six points — meaning every victory can shake up the standings.
