Vienna Women Return from the International Break
After the international break, our women’s team is also returning to league action. This coming Sunday, our team will host SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg at home. Kick-off is at 1:30 PM.
Vienna Players Representing Austria
In the U19 European Championship qualifiers, Vienna was represented by three players: Anna Osl, Alina Kerschbaumer, and Denise Lueger. The Austrian team succeeded in qualifying for the second round. Both Anna Osl and Denise Lueger contributed goals in the win against Estonia and the draw against England. We’re proud of you!
Vienna Searching for Form
The weeks leading up to the international break were challenging for Vienna. Coach Mark Dobrounig’s team has been waiting for another victory since the fifth round. In the standings, the team has slipped a bit and now sits in seventh place with eight points. “We were able to use the international break to reflect together as a team on the past few weeks. We analyzed the recent matches and tried to draw the right conclusions. Against Südburgenland, it will be important for us to be present on the pitch from the very beginning and take control of the game. We want to build momentum on our side and claim all three points,” said head coach Mark Dobrounig ahead of the upcoming match.
A Memorable First-Leg Match
The first encounter of the season against Südburgenland ended in a spectacular 8–3 victory for Vienna. No fewer than seven different Vienna players found the back of the net in that match. This win provides confidence that the team can turn things around on Sunday in front of their home fans.
Our guests currently sit ninth in the table with five points. In the last round before the international break, they earned a 3–3 draw against USV Neulengbach.
