Vienna Celebrates Clear 4–1 Home Victory Against SpG Südburgenland/Hartberg
In the 11th round of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, Vienna recorded a convincing 4–1 win at home in the Naturarena against SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg. After an early opener from Sarac and a temporary equalizer from the visitors, the Döbling side took full control in the second half, scoring three more goals to secure the win.
Vienna hosted the Südburgenland/Hartberg joint team at the Naturarena. Coach Mark Dobrounig’s squad was determined to build on recent performances and showed strong commitment from the outset.
Early Lead for Vienna
The match began with fast-paced play on both sides. Vienna was able to celebrate as early as the 6th minute: A precise pass found Sarac in the penalty area, who fought her way through and calmly curled the ball into the far corner for the 1–0 lead.
Open Exchange After the Opening Goal
Vienna continued to dictate the match. In the 17th minute, Hahn tried a long-range shot, but it was deflected to a corner by a defender.
In the 24th minute, the visitors struck back: A free kick sailed into the Vienna box and the attempted clearance fell to Wagner, who fired from outside the area to equalize at 1–1.
Chances for Vienna to Regain the Lead
The hosts were not discouraged and kept pressing forward. Amuchie had a good opportunity in the 33rd minute, but her shot from distance went over the target. Soon after, Hahn tested the visiting goalkeeper with a dangerous shot after a fine pass from Höcherl, but the keeper reacted well. Schneiderbauer also tried her luck from range but narrowly missed.
A Moment of Fortune Before Halftime
Just before the break, the Vienna defense faced a dangerous moment: After a through-ball, Gröller suddenly found herself one-on-one with Wende but sent the ball past the post — a fortunate escape for Vienna. The home side had one more long-range attempt before the whistle, but it too went over the bar.
The first half ended with a fair 1–1 scoreline, reflecting a lively and balanced match.
Vienna Begins the Second Half With Pressure
Vienna came out strong after halftime, immediately pushing forward. The visitors defended vigorously and initially prevented the hosts from creating clear chances.
In the 54th minute, Vienna came close: After a corner, Kover found herself in a promising position but sent the ball over the bar — the lead remained out of reach for the moment.
Pfanner Puts Vienna Back in Front
A few minutes later came the breakthrough. In the 59th minute, Wasser set up Sarac, whose direct shot forced a save. Shortly afterward, Vienna earned a promising free kick near the penalty area. Sarac delivered the ball perfectly to Pfanner, who made no mistake and scored to give Vienna a 2–1 lead.
Double Strike Sets the Tone
In the 64th minute, coach Mark Dobrounig made a double substitution: Kerschbaumer and Höcherl came in for Wasser and Schneiderbauer. Vienna continued to dominate and pressed for another goal. In the 70th minute, Sarac fired from distance, but the visiting goalkeeper denied her.
Just a few minutes later came another change: Lueger replaced Fankhauser in the 76th minute. The substitute made an immediate impact — she received a long pass and finished confidently to extend the lead to 3–1.
Höcherl Scores — Victory Secured
Vienna continued to threaten. In the 82nd minute, Höcherl finished calmly after being set up with a well-timed pass, making it 4–1 and sealing the win.
In the 87th minute, Vienna made another double substitution: Van der Reijden and Havel came on for Amuchie and Sarac.
