Away Match Against Sturm Graz
This coming Friday, the Vienna women’s team will face SK Sturm Graz away from home. The match at the Messendorf training center kicks off at 19:30.
The first meeting of the season at the Hohe Warte ended in a tough 5–3 defeat for Vienna. Despite a spirited performance in which the Blue-and-Yellow side challenged Graz for long stretches, Sturm managed to capitalize on Vienna’s inaccuracies and ultimately secured the win.
A look at the league table shows Vienna currently sitting in seventh place with eleven points. Sturm Graz, on the other hand, has 18 points and stands in fourth place.
Recent weeks have not gone well for Sturm Graz. They have not collected any points from their last three matches: 0–2 losses to St. Pölten and Altach, followed by a 0–1 defeat to LASK.
Meanwhile, Vienna celebrated an important victory in the previous round. At home, they earned a convincing 4–1 win against SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg, marking a strong return after the international break. Ines Sarac, Patricia Pfanner, Denise Lueger, and Lara Höcherl all found the net.
Head coach Mark Dobrounig on the upcoming match against Sturm Graz:
“Against Südburgenland we finally managed to reward ourselves with three points again. That gives us confidence and belief going into the upcoming matches, which will demand a lot from us. Against Sturm Graz, it will once again be crucial that we perform as a team and face this challenge together. If we succeed in that and take our chances, I am confident that we can take something from the match against Sturm Graz.”
