Vienna narrowly defeated 2–3 by Sturm Graz
In their away match against SK Sturm Graz, Vienna came away empty-handed. Although Vienna controlled large parts of the game, the hosts made the most of their decisive moments to turn the match in their favor. The encounter ended with a 3–2 victory for Sturm Graz.
Early lead for Sturm Graz
The start of the game couldn’t have gone worse for Vienna. After an even opening phase, the hosts launched an attack down the right wing in the 13th minute. The cross found Breznik, who headed the ball precisely into the net to make it 1–0.
Vienna tried not to be rattled by the early setback and gradually took control of possession. Their first real chance came in the 23rd minute when Sarac fired from the edge of the box, but her effort went narrowly wide.
Sturm doubles the lead
Things got worse for Vienna in the 26th minute: after a misplaced pass by Schneiderbauer, Osl attempted to clear the danger, but the ball deflected unluckily into her own net — 2–0 for Sturm Graz.
Kerschbaumer pulls one back
The Blue and Yellows managed to strike back before the break. Pfanner broke through brilliantly on the flank and squared the ball across the goal to Kerschbaumer, who calmly slotted home to make it 2–1. That remained the score at halftime.
Wasser denied by the post
Vienna continued to control the match after the restart but struggled to create clear chances in attack. Their best opportunity came when Claudia Wasser shot from close range, only for her effort to rebound off the post — agonizingly close to the equalizer.
Late goals decide the match
In the closing minutes, the hosts became dangerous again from a free kick. Piplits did well to save the first header, but Petersen was quick to react and converted the rebound to make it 3–1.
Vienna threw everything forward in the final minutes and were rewarded when Amuchie scored with a long-range strike to reduce the deficit. However, despite six minutes of added time, the Blue and Yellows couldn’t find another goal.
The match ended in a narrow and unfortunate 3–2 defeat for Vienna.
