Vienna Women and RB Salzburg Share the Points
In the final match of the year, our team faced RB Salzburg away from home. In a hard-fought encounter, the hosts took the lead, but Vienna equalised through Osl. The match ended in a deserved draw.
Vienna start on the front foot
The game began in hectic fashion, with both teams setting a high tempo from the first minute. As the match progressed, Vienna gained more control and created the first chances. In the 15th minute, Hahn broke forward on the counter and tried her luck from distance, but her shot was blocked. From the resulting corner, Pfanner had a good opportunity as well, but her effort was also defended.
Salzburg grow into the game
Vienna’s early chances seemed to act as a wake-up call for Salzburg. The hosts grew stronger, but Vienna’s defence remained focused and shut down every attacking attempt. Salzburg’s first real chance came in the 40th minute from a free kick, but the ball sailed over the bar.
Wasser misses the chance to take the lead
Just before halftime, the match saw its first big moment: Amuchie was fouled inside the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Wasser stepped up, but her penalty was saved, and the rebound also came to nothing. The teams went into the break level at 0–0.
Salzburg take the lead after halftime
Shortly after the restart, Vienna suffered a setback. After a tough challenge, Salzburg won the ball, and Grabovac fired home from close range to make it 1–0. The hosts gained momentum after the goal, and Vienna struggled to find their way back into the match.
Osl converts from the spot to equalise
During Salzburg’s strongest phase, the referee awarded Vienna another penalty after a handball. This time, Anna Osl stepped up and held her nerve to score the equaliser.
Open match until the end
The equaliser gave Vienna renewed confidence, and the game opened up with slight advantages for the visitors. However, the biggest chance fell to Salzburg in the 62nd minute, when a long-range effort struck the crossbar.
Vienna pushed for a late winner but couldn’t break through. Both defences stood firm until the final whistle. The match ended 1–1 — a fair result after a fiercely contested encounter.
