Vienna Sign Meguru Odagaki
Vienna have secured the services of Meguru Odagaki. The 28-year-old winger moves to Vienna-Döbling from Regionalliga side FCM Traiskirchen.
With Odagaki, Vienna strengthen their squad with a highly goal-threatening and dynamic wide player. The Japanese attacker had been under contract with FCM Traiskirchen in the Regionalliga East since the summer, where he impressed with outstanding performances. In 16 league matches, he scored an impressive 11 goals, making him one of the league’s standout players.
Vienna head coach Hans Kleer is delighted with the new signing:
“We are very happy that Meguru has decided to join Vienna. He has shown continuous development in recent years and earned this move with consistently strong performances. With his technique, pace, and goal threat, he will definitely enrich our game.”
Odagaki’s football journey took him in 2016 from Gamba Osaka to the youth ranks of German traditional club Alemannia Aachen. After several stops in Germany, the attacking player initially returned to his native Japan. In the winter of last year, he took his first step to Austria by joining FavAC, before moving to FCM Traiskirchen in the summer.
With his 11 goals this season, Odagaki played a key role in the strong campaign of the Lower Austrian side, who currently sit third in the Regionalliga East. His move to Vienna and Austria’s second tier now represents the next logical step in the 28-year-old’s career.
Meguru Odagaki is full of anticipation about his new challenge:
“Moving to Vienna is the next important step in my career. I want to help the team with my performances and do everything I can to bring joy to the fans and this club rich in tradition.”
