We still have goosebumps from yesterday. What an incredible blue-and-yellow story! All the more reason why we were so delighted to receive the following lines written by Vienna fan Andrej, which we are very happy to share on our website. In an impressive way, they show what the Vienna family, our Hohe Warte, and our blue-and-yellow club of the heart stand for — and what has been achieved over the past few days.
We sincerely thank him for this contribution, as well as for the tremendous commitment, passion, and time that so many continue to invest in Vienna. The past few days once again demonstrated what unity at Vienna truly means. A huge thank you to the entire Vienna family. These lines belong to you!!
Vienna is more — and we are all Vienna!
Enjoy reading and thank you for your support! 💙💛
Together We Are Vienna
by Andrej
A lot didn’t go as it should have last summer and autumn. The squad composition proved less than ideal, and the club’s sporting goals were not achieved. On the pitch, there was largely a lack of cohesion and the determination to truly take control of a game. Week after week, the fans stood behind their team, yet frustration kept growing as performances failed to meet expectations.
But what happened over the winter break feels like a football miracle. February 20, 2026 will remain in the memory of every Vienna fan, official, and player for a long time. Vienna showed Austrian football the force it is capable of unleashing. It showed what Vienna truly stands for in times of division and adversity: unity. One for all and all for one — that is the motto at the Hohe Warte. On a day when all of Vienna sank into chaos. Vienna Airport was shut down. Public transport was partially suspended. Even the usually reliable city services were stretched to their limits. All football matches in Vienna were canceled. But Vienna defied all adversities.
The sporting leadership felt confident and was looking forward to the first home game of the spring season. They were determined that the match would take place. And so everything — truly everything — was set in motion to make that wish a reality. The entire management, club officials, coaches from all departments, Jugend am Werk, and supporters stood united on the snow-covered pitch at the Hohe Warte, working tirelessly throughout the day — just as they had during the previous night — to make the vision of the sporting leadership come true.
More than 400 tons of snow were cleared by the Vienna family. Let that sink in! Several hundred euros were spent on snow shovels because the demand to help was so overwhelming. After finishing their regular workdays, people flocked to the Hohe Warte in droves to support their club. United, shoulder to shoulder, everyone stood together for the club. The seemingly impossible was achieved, and at 6:00 p.m. local time, the referee gave the “okay.” Nothing stood in the way of a football miracle at the Hohe Warte.
Morning support from Jugend am Werk
Once the task was accomplished, fans and club went their separate ways for a few hours. The club and the team prepared themselves for the battle against the league leaders. At the same time, the fans were working on an incredible choreo, investing countless hours, materials, and heart into it. It was meant to be a perfect evening.
When the gates of the Hohe Warte opened at 7:30 p.m., people arrived full of anticipation to witness the only match taking place in Vienna that day. More than 1,500 spectators came despite freezing temperatures, knowing that fireworks would be set off both on the pitch and in the stands.
The moment the refereeing team and the players stepped onto the field, Vienna’s fans showed their love for the club — and especially for the Hohe Warte — with a breathtaking choreography. A giant banner in club colors, floodlight towers rising to the left and right, and in between the logo of our beloved club: “First Vienna FC.” If you didn’t get goosebumps there, nothing can help you.
From the very first second, the fans drove the team forward, aware that in recent months this energy had not always translated onto the pitch. But this time everything was different. What we saw was a completely different team from the autumn. Not necessarily in personnel — but in attitude. They fought for every ball. They celebrated defensive actions like championship titles. They applauded each other after good moves and lifted each other up after mistakes. We finally saw a team on the pitch again! Everyone in the stadium could feel it. The long-awaited bond between team and fans was restored. The players finally understood what people want to see at the Hohe Warte: fighting spirit. The will to win. Fire. UNITY.
Bernhard Zimmermann celebrated his goal with a “snow-shoveling” gesture — a thank you to all the helpers!
On this evening, you would never have believed that the league leaders were on the pitch — and that it wasn’t Vienna. They gave SKN no room to breathe. Even after the extremely fortunate 1–1 equalizer, the team showed character and fought back. What we saw was a united group willing to play bold football. They sought out one-on-one situations. They dribbled past opponents. They set up teammates brilliantly — and in the end, they celebrated together with the fans. On the pitch, they left their opponents no chance. In the stands, they silenced the away supporters.
Football romantics got their money’s worth on this day. On days like these, it makes you proud again to be part of the Vienna family. One hundred percent support from the stands was rewarded with one hundred percent passion on the pitch.
Let’s create many more football days like this — TOGETHER — and let Vienna shine again in old and new glory. Forever blue and yellow. Vienna till I die.
