New Partner School for Vienna – Billrothgymnasium Becomes Part of the Blue-and-Yellow Network
The partner school initiative of First Vienna FC 1894 has gained a new addition. With the Billrothgymnasium, one of the largest schools in Döbling becomes a partner school of Vienna. Together, the goal is to inspire students to engage in sports and to take responsibility within the local community. Many highlights from this collaboration can be expected.
Billrothgymnasium – A Top Address in Döbling
Only a few minutes on foot—or a short ride on tram line 37—separate the Naturarena Hohe Warte from the Billrothgymnasium. As a secondary school with a long history and strong roots in Döbling, the Billrothgymnasium has long been an attractive option for students.
From the third grade onward, students can choose between three different educational tracks: a language-focused program, a science-oriented program, and an economics-oriented program. This offers a wide range of opportunities for students to develop their individual strengths. Additional highlights include a special “Expression and Movement” class and a brass band class in the first two years, as well as a large number of optional activities and elective courses.
Vienna Partner School
Through its school partnerships, Vienna aims to bring the excitement of football—as well as the broader values of sport and teamwork—closer to young people. Together with the Billrothgymnasium, the club now plans to create special experiences for students. Alongside exclusive ticket promotions, sports sessions with players from Vienna’s first teams are also planned.
A familiar face from the club is already teaching at the school: Denny Krcmarek, co-coach of the Vienna amateurs, works at the Billrothgymnasium and leads the football training sessions there.
Voices on the partnership
Georg Jelenko (Principal, Billrothgymnasium): “At the Billrothgymnasium, we have set ourselves the goal of ‘opening’ our school rather than acting in isolation or disconnected from real life. We want to give our students the opportunity to get to know their environment and to become engaged in it. This includes the fields of business and professional life, art and culture, society and politics—and also sport. In this regard, Vienna, as a traditional club in Döbling, is an ideal partner. I expect collaboration on a sporting level, hope for positive organizational effects, and look forward to our partnership for the benefit of our students.”
Constantin Orel (Head of Marketing & Sponsoring, First Vienna FC 1894): “As a football club based in Döbling, it was very important for us to collaborate with the district’s leading schools as part of our school partnership program. The Billrothgymnasium is a perfect fit for Vienna—not only because of its geographic proximity, but also due to its strong commitment to supporting students and its diversity. We are looking forward to the joint projects and to welcoming many Billrothgymnasium students at our stadium on the Hohe Warte.”
