Sunday Matinee Against the Young Violets
An early start awaits on Sunday: First Vienna FC 1894 will host the Young Violets Austria Wien at 10:30 AM at the Naturarena Hohe Warte. After the convincing 3–0 away win in the last round, Vienna will look to build on that performance in Round 21 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga and secure another three points in front of their home crowd. As always, the blue-and-yellows are counting on the support of their fans.
Vienna With a Strong Performance
On the previous matchday, Vienna delivered an impressive performance away from home against SC Austria Lustenau. The team took control of the match from the start. Goals from Zimmermann and Bauer secured a deserved 2–0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Zimmermann completed his brace to make it 3–0, sealing a convincing away victory against one of the league’s title contenders.
Head coach Hans Kleer said about the match in Vorarlberg:
“We implemented many of the things we had planned against Lustenau. After taking the lead, the team remained very calm and also worked with great discipline without the ball. We will need exactly this intensity off the ball and quality on the ball again in the upcoming home match.”
Reunion With the Young Violets
This weekend, Vienna will face the reserve team of FK Austria Wien. The first meeting earlier this season ended in a 1–1 draw. Vienna started strongly and took the lead in the third minute through Jongmin Seo. As the first half progressed, the hosts grew into the match and equalized. Neither side managed to score the decisive goal afterward, and the match ended level.
Two Recent Wins
The Young Violets recently celebrated two narrow victories in a row. They defeated SK Rapid Wien II and FC Hertha Wels 1–0 in both matches. However, they started the second half of the season with a 1–2 defeat against FC Admira Wacker Mödling. In the league table, the Young Violets currently sit in a secure sixth place.
Head coach Hans Kleer on the upcoming opponent:
“On Sunday we will face a very young, technically strong and dynamic team that is very versatile in possession. For us it will be crucial to be present from the start, accept the physical battles, and stay well organized defensively. At the same time, we want to play with courage and impose our own style. If we show the same intensity and discipline as in the last match, we have a good chance of winning.”
Squad Update
There are currently no new developments regarding the squad. Vienna will still be without long-term absentees Ungar and Alozie. Abdijanovic, who recently underwent knee surgery, will also remain sidelined. Meanwhile, the availability of Jongmin Seo and Meguru Odagaki remains uncertain.
