Away Match for Vienna Women Against LASK
To conclude the regular season, the Vienna women’s team will face LASK away from home. The match will take place this coming Saturday, March 28, at 1:00 PM at the Upper Austrian FA training grounds.
LASK lost 0–3 to SKN St. Pölten on the last matchday. In the previous round, the Linz side secured a narrow 1–0 victory against FC Südburgenland. In the standings, LASK sit in seventh place, two points behind Vienna.
Vienna in Strong Form
Vienna’s form has been on a steep upward trajectory since the winter break. The Döbling-based side recently celebrated three consecutive league victories. Defensively in particular, the team coached by head coach Mark Dobrounig has looked very solid: goalkeeper Vivien Grabenhofer has conceded just one goal in the last three matches.
Home Win Against SCR Altach
Against fourth-placed Altach, Vienna secured a 2–0 home win last weekend. Patricia Pfanner put Vienna ahead in the 53rd minute. In the 86th minute, substitute Lilah Havel sealed the result. With the win over Altach, Vienna moved ahead of LASK in the standings.
Vienna lost the reverse fixture against LASK 0–2 in the autumn, but will be aiming for revenge this weekend.
“We want to carry the momentum from the past rounds into the match against LASK and take all three points. To do that, we need to remain defensively compact and stay true to our principles. It certainly won’t be an easy game against LASK, but I’m convinced we can come away with a win,” said head coach Mark Dobrounig.
