Vienna turns the game around in Linz and wins 3–2
In Round 18 of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, Vienna visited LASK in Linz. After an early setback, the Döbling side turned the game around before halftime to take a 2–1 lead. After the break, the Blue-Yellows extended their advantage before LASK pulled one back. In the end, Vienna secured a deserved 3–2 away victory.
In the final match of the regular season, Mark Dobrounig’s team traveled to Linz to face LASK. There were two changes in the starting lineup: Pötzl and Havel replaced Seidl and Laaksonen.
Difficult start for Vienna
The match began far from ideal. In the 6th minute, defender Kovar failed to clear decisively, and Švíbková capitalized from close range to give the hosts an early lead. Vienna initially played too hastily and struggled to find their rhythm.
Quick response and growing pressure
However, the Döbling side showed resilience and responded quickly. In the 12th minute, Havel was sent through perfectly and delicately chipped the LASK goalkeeper to equalize at 1–1.
The goal gave Vienna increasing confidence, and they gradually took control of the match. The visitors became more dominant and put LASK under sustained pressure.
Defensive moments and close calls
Despite their superiority, the game remained challenging defensively. In the 22nd minute, a miscommunication between Osl and Kovar allowed Němcová to run through on goal, but Gebert made a strong clearance.
Shortly after, LASK threatened again from a corner. Räämet got her head to the ball, but Kovar cleared it off the line to prevent another deficit.
Lead before halftime
In the 30th minute, Vienna finally capitalized on their strong phase. A free kick by Sarac was initially blocked by the wall, but she fired the rebound low into the far corner from around 20 meters to make it 2–1.
Just before halftime, Sarac nearly scored again, curling a corner directly on goal in the 36th minute, but the LASK goalkeeper managed to clear at the last moment.
Vienna went into the break with a narrow but deserved 2–1 lead.
No changes at halftime
Vienna came out determined after the break and made an early statement. In the 56th minute, Sarac was fouled in the penalty area, and the referee pointed to the spot. Osl stepped up and calmly converted to make it 3–1.
Fresh legs and continued threat
Just minutes later, the coaching staff made changes: Wasser and Höcherl came on for Havel and Pötzl in the 59th minute.
Vienna remained dangerous in attack. In the 62nd minute, a cross from Lueger almost drifted into the goal, but the LASK keeper just managed to save it. A minute later, Höcherl tested the goalkeeper with a direct free kick, which was also saved.
Further substitutions and slight drop-off
In the 66th minute, Vienna made another double substitution. Laaksonen and Seidl replaced Osl and Sarac, who had to leave the pitch injured. During this phase, Vienna lost some control, while LASK tried to build pressure again.
LASK pull one back – Vienna holds on
In the 73rd minute, the match became tense again. A corner from Wagner was deceptively deflected by the wind and went straight into the net, making it 2–3.
In the closing stages, however, Vienna defended with focus and did not concede again. Fankhauser came on for Lueger in the 81st minute.
Deserved away win
In the end, Vienna celebrated a deserved 3–2 away victory in Linz and finished the regular season successfully.
