Vienna receives top-division license twice over

A major success for First Vienna FC 1894: both the men’s and the women’s first teams have been granted licenses for Austria’s top divisions at first instance. This means that Austria’s oldest football club meets all requirements to participate in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga and the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga.

As in the previous year, all financial criteria for the Bundesliga license have been fulfilled. With head coach Hans Kleer taking part in the UEFA Pro License course, all personnel requirements are now also met. For the first time, First Vienna FC 1894 has thus received the license for the ADMIRAL Bundesliga at first instance—an important milestone for the traditional club from Döbling. This establishes the formal basis for competing in the top division with both the men’s and women’s teams.

“The granting of the license at first instance confirms that, as a club, we are on a very good path both organizationally and financially. It also reflects our sustainable development and underlines our ambition to compete in the top division in the long term. Our thanks go to all employees, our partners, sponsors, and our fans who support our journey. Now the focus is on achieving the necessary sporting results to take the next step,” explains Managing Director Thomas Loy.

There is also good news from the women’s section: for the first time, a licensing procedure has been introduced for the upcoming Women’s Bundesliga season. Vienna successfully applied for the international license and has also received it at first instance. Another significant step that highlights the excellent work of the entire team, both on and off the pitch.

Together we are Vienna!
