Vienna faces Admira away in Südstadt
After last Sunday’s matinee, it’s back to floodlights for Vienna this coming Friday. Kick-off is at 8:30 PM, as the team travels to Südstadt to face Admira. In Matchday 26 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, Vienna will be aiming for a third consecutive win.
Vienna recently celebrated two victories
Head coach Hans Kleer’s team has been in strong form, recording two wins in a row. In the derby against FAC, Vienna secured a 1–0 victory. In the latest round, the Döbling side hosted Sturm Graz II. The visitors took the lead, but Bernhard Zimmermann equalized shortly before halftime. In the second half, Vienna made use of their numerical advantage, and a header from Jürgen Bauer sealed a deserved 2–1 win.
Coach Hans Kleer is satisfied with his team’s development:
“The progress is on track and has been visible since the first match in St. Pölten. The team is playing differently now, more actively. That’s also reflected in wins against strong opponents like SKN, Lustenau, and FAC. However, we still have room for improvement against deep-defending teams, especially when we dominate but don’t get much space. We handled that better against Sturm II and could have won by a bigger margin.”
Coaching change at Admira
Admira has had a slow start to 2026. Recently, the club parted ways with head coach Thomas Silberberger, with U18 coach Harald Suchard taking over as head coach. His first two matches in charge both ended in draws. Admira currently sits fifth in the table, four points behind the leaders.
In the autumn, Admira won 3–1 at Hohe Warte. Vienna will be looking for revenge this Friday in Südstadt.
Coach Kleer expects an intense clash against another top side:
“Admira is the next title contender we’re facing. We’ve had good experiences against such teams this spring. They have a very experienced squad with several former Bundesliga players. With the coaching change, they’ll be looking to bring in fresh momentum. Overall, they’ve only lost three matches, are very solid defensively, robust, and physically strong—especially on set pieces with good aerial players. If we consistently do our job, I’m confident we can take something from the game.”
