Strong Team Performance Leads Vienna to Deserved Win over BW Linz
Vienna celebrated a convincing 3–0 home victory against BW Linz in Round 19 of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, confirming their strong run of form this spring.
Fast Start from Vienna
Vienna began the match with great intensity, putting BW Linz under early pressure. In the 3rd minute, a corner from Höcherl to Laaksonen created danger, with the header just tipped over the bar. The following short corner led to another chance through Fankhauser, but her shot went wide.
In the 6th minute, Sarac set up Fankhauser with a beautiful pass, though the finish lacked power. Vienna remained dominant and created another top opportunity in the 9th minute, when Pfanner struck the post following a corner.
Lead Just Before Half-Time
After a slightly quieter phase in which BW Linz grew into the game, Vienna still looked more dangerous. A long-range effort from Pfanner in the 35th minute went over the bar.
Shortly before the break, Vienna took a deserved lead. Kovar played a long ball to Sarac, who laid it off to Höcherl. Höcherl rounded the goalkeeper and calmly finished to make it 1–0. Vienna went into half-time with the advantage.
More Intense Second Half
Both teams made changes at the break: BW Linz introduced Herbst and Kofler for Grgic and Prandstätter, while Vienna brought on Lueger for Havel.
Vienna continued to control the match in the second half, though clear chances were initially limited. The game became more physical, with many duels in midfield. In the 56th minute, Fankhauser set up Pfanner, but her first-time shot went wide. Shortly after, Höcherl produced a strong individual effort but shot over the bar.
Pfanner and Laaksonen Seal the Win
In the 64th minute, Pfanner headed a cross from Kovar on target, but the goalkeeper made the save. Two minutes later, the decisive second goal arrived: Laaksonen delivered a perfectly timed pass to Pfanner, who lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 2–0.
Vienna remained in control and dominated possession in the closing stages.
Clear Home Victory
In the 82nd minute, Pfanner sealed the result. After winning the ball, she finished confidently to make it 3–0.
A fully deserved win for Vienna, who were the better team throughout and impressed in particular with their structured attacking play.
