Vienna come from behind to win 3–1 in Altach
In Round 20 of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, Vienna travelled to Vorarlberg. After trailing at halftime, the Blue-Yellows turned the game around and ultimately celebrated a deserved 3–1 away victory.
Vienna faced SCR Altach aiming to extend their run of five consecutive wins and continue their strong form.
Early setback despite positive start
The match could hardly have started worse: in the third minute, Altach capitalized on a counterattack, with Kofler curling a long-range effort perfectly into the top corner.
The visitors responded quickly and began to take control. In the 7th minute, Vienna worked the ball down the left flank, where Fankhauser set up Sarac, but her effort went just wide. Shortly after, Hahn tried her luck but aimed too centrally. Vienna played aggressively and applied early pressure on Altach.
Vienna dominant but lacking cutting edge
Despite their superiority in possession and play, clear chances remained scarce at first. In the 13th minute, Laaksonen attempted a shot from distance but narrowly missed the target. Altach remained dangerous on the counter, hitting the post through Kofler in the 26th minute.
Vienna showed patience in their build-up play, though this came at the cost of some attacking penetration. Altach, meanwhile, struggled to get back into the game.
Missed penalty, but Vienna keep pushing
There were no changes at halftime. In the 51st minute, Vienna had a golden opportunity to equalize when Pötzl was fouled in the box, but Pfanner’s penalty was saved by the Altach goalkeeper.
Shortly after, the coaching staff reacted with substitutions, bringing on Kerschbaumer and Seidl for Sarac and Fankhauser in the 56th minute. Altach created a chance through Mikulica during this phase, but Ellgaß’s effort posed no problem for goalkeeper Grabenhofer.
Seidl equalizes as Vienna take control
In the 60th minute, a well-worked set-piece paid off: the ball fell to Seidl, who made it 1–1—marking a perfect birthday goal. Just a minute later, Pfanner had a chance to put Vienna ahead but fired over the bar from close range.
Vienna remained the dominant side, though their finishing continued to lack precision.
Strong finish secures deserved win
As the match progressed, Vienna increased the pressure. In the 69th minute, Höcherl came on for Wasser. Five minutes later, Kerschbaumer produced a moment of quality, driving forward and scoring with a low shot into the near corner to make it 2–1 (74’).
Just two minutes later, Vienna struck again: following a well-worked attack, Pfanner calmly finished to extend the lead to 3–1 (76’). Further substitutions followed in the 78th minute, with Osl and Havel replacing Lueger and Pötzl.
Altach attempted to respond in the closing stages, but Grabenhofer remained reliable, including a solid save from a Mikulica effort in the 85th minute.
Deserved away victory
Vienna saw out the game confidently and secured a deserved 3–1 win, extending their impressive run and taking three important points back from Altach.
