Amateurs coach Gökce Tuna leaves Vienna

Vienna and amateur team head coach Gökce Tuna are parting ways with immediate effect. The 37-year-old’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement at his own request.

Tuna had been part of Vienna since the summer of 2023 and took charge of the Vienna amateurs in March 2024. Last season, he guided the team to a strong second-place finish in the Wiener Stadtliga following impressive development throughout the campaign. The young squad has also performed consistently well this season and currently sits fifth in the table with 41 points.

Alongside the sporting results, a particular focus was placed on the development of young players and preparing them for senior football and eventual promotion to the first team.

Youth academy director Nermin Jusic thanked Gökce Tuna for his committed work: “Göki enriched our youth development work with great commitment and professional quality. His work with young players and their development was especially valuable for our club. We respect his decision and sincerely thank him for his dedication and achievements in blue and yellow. We wish him all the best for his personal and sporting future. At the same time, we will structurally realign our youth and amateur departments this summer in order to introduce new impulses and further strengthen the connection between the academy and the first team.”

Gökce Tuna also looked back on his time at Vienna with pride and gratitude: “I look back on an incredibly successful time at Vienna. In the first year, we won the league title and earned promotion, followed by a runners-up finish in the Stadtliga, and currently we are in an excellent position with 41 points. What makes me most proud, however, is that during this time we were able to develop numerous young talents and successfully integrate them into the first team. That shows that our work has paid off. My special thanks go to the club for giving me the opportunity back then and for always supporting me fully along the way. I would also like to thank my players and coaching staff for their tremendous commitment and trust. I leave the club with great pride and wish the boys nothing but the best for their sporting future.”

Vienna thanked Gökce Tuna for his commitment and wished him all the best for the future.

The remaining matches of the season will be overseen by current assistant coach Denny Krcmarek together with U18 coach Stefan Wichmann.
