Patrick Enengl Appointed New Head Coach of First Vienna FC 1894
First Vienna FC has set the course for the upcoming season by appointing Patrick Enengl as the new head coach of the first team. The 32-year-old from Lower Austria succeeds Hans Kleer, whose contract was not renewed following the end of the season.
Most recently, Enengl worked with SKU Amstetten in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, where he attracted attention through the team's strong performances. Prior to that, he gained valuable experience at the Upper Austria Academy, coaching several youth teams before taking over as head coach of LASK Amateure OÖ in 2023. In his first season, he guided the team to a second-place finish in the Regionalliga Mitte, narrowly behind champions DSV Leoben.
His move to Amstetten marked the next step in his development as a coach. Under his leadership, the team established itself among the league’s top sides and remained in contention for the top positions well into the decisive stages of the season.
Vienna Sporting Director Didi Elsneg expressed his confidence in the appointment:
"Patrick Enengl represents a clear footballing philosophy. Despite his young age, he has already demonstrated that he can develop teams and lead them successfully. What was particularly important for us was his clear vision of how football should be played and how young players should be developed. We are delighted that he has chosen Vienna and are convinced that he is an excellent fit for our path forward."
Patrick Enengl is also looking forward to his new role in Döbling:
"From the very beginning, my discussions with the club’s management were extremely positive and immediately showed me the potential that exists within this club. Vienna is a traditional club with clear ambitions and a professional environment. I am excited to work intensively with the entire team and continue driving the club’s sporting development. At the same time, our clear goal is to inspire the fans with an active, intense, and purposeful style of play, and together with our supporters create a genuine sense of excitement and enthusiasm at Hohe Warte."
Joining the coaching staff is assistant coach Mario Mühlbauer, whom Patrick Enengl brings with him to Vienna. The 49-year-old moves from the LASK Academy U18 team to Döbling and will strengthen the Blue-and-Yellow coaching staff.
In addition, key members of the existing coaching team will remain at the club, including assistant coach Roman Kienast, goalkeeping coach Patrick Kostner, and fitness coach Nikola Zivotic.
