Bernhard Unger and David Ungar Extend Their Contracts with First Vienna FC
First Vienna FC 1894 is pleased to announce that the expiring contracts of Bernhard Unger and David Ungar have been extended. The two key players will therefore remain part of the Blue-and-Yellow squad for the upcoming season.
Bernhard Unger joined Vienna from Rapid in the summer of 2024 and immediately established himself as a reliable presence between the posts for the Döbling-based club. Over the past few seasons, Unger has rarely missed a match. During the most recent campaign, he made 24 appearances and kept 11 clean sheets. His contract, which was set to expire this summer, has now been extended, ensuring that he will continue to guard Vienna’s goal next season.
David Ungar also arrived at Vienna in 2024, having previously played for SV Ried. In his first season with the club, Ungar made a total of 23 appearances. He enjoyed an outstanding start to the previous campaign and scored his first goal for Vienna in a match against St. Pölten. However, a serious injury in the autumn sidelined the 26-year-old. Ungar made his comeback against Amstetten and immediately picked up where he had left off, delivering the strong performances that had marked the beginning of his season.
Sporting Director Didi Elsneg commented on the contract extensions:
"With Bernhard and David, we are retaining two true leaders who are incredibly important to our team both on and off the pitch. Bernhard provides us with great security through his consistency and composure in goal, while David has impressively demonstrated, following his injury, just how valuable he is to our style of play. We are delighted that both players will continue their journey with Vienna."
